I'd like to share our experience staying @ Sunset Beach House recently. This was our 9th and most memorable trip we have had to Bonaire. My husband and I rented this home through Bonaireoceanfrontvillas.com which, to us, is the most professional rental service on the island. A big thank-you to Kitti and Charles who made sure our accomodations were all that we expected and that everything inside and outside of the villa was in working order.
Because we were traveling solo (usually children and family members are with us), we decided on Sunset Beach House for its' location, access to shore dive (Punt Vierkant) and the interior set-up. It has 4 spacious guest rooms with a "minimalist" touch, which we prefer, less places for the mosquitoes to hide!
The beds are true King beds (not 2 twins pushed together) and very comfortable with clean, crisp duvet covers which were changed mid-week (unlike other villas with overstuffed, dirty comforters and dusty drapes). This villa is by no means "luxury" but it is more than satisfactory on the cleanliness side.
I would say that this particular villa is perfect for a couple wanting a romantic trip or for 2 couples and maybe children. The downstairs bedrooms (2) were also very spacious but I found going "downstairs" kind of dark and not very inviting. Would be fine for children since the basement has a large play area with toys. I went to the downstairs rooms just once during our stay since all that is needed is on the main floor.
The open floor plan was perfect for opening both East and West doors to get that always present Bonairian breeze through the house. It also helped to keep the mosquitoes away. This villa has a small pool directly in front of the beach so many afternoons were spent cooling off in the pool and enjoying a few Amstel Brights. The house dive was very good with healthy corals, large green moray and lots of juvenile fish. The entry is a small beach area 2 houses to the North which are marked by a pile of corals.
Each time we visit Bonaire, we stay at a different place so that we can experience the diversity of what the island has to offer. Next time we go, we'll probably stay North in the Belnam area or perhaps Sabedeco?? We will definately use Bonaireoceanfrontvillas again.
